The Art of Crafting Nip Slip

In South Africa, crafting exceptional red wine is an art form, passed down through generations of passionate winemakers. At the heart of this artistry is a particular blend—a secret recipe known only to the select few entrusted with its creation. The blend was inspired by the romance and allure of the renowned Stellenbosch region, known for its harmonious marriage of traditional craftsmanship and modern techniques. Handpicked by an exceptionally skilled winemaker, the finest Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, and Mourvèdre grapes, bursting with flavours of ripe cherries and sun-kissed plums, were carefully selected to form Nip Slip’s DNA.

These grapes form the foundation of the blend, infusing it with characteristic elegance and South African charm. The true magic lies in the masterful fusion of these complementary varieties. Robust Cabernet Sauvignon brings structure and depth, lending the wine a velvety texture with hints of blackcurrant and cedar. Shiraz, with its supple tannins and notes of red berries, adds softness and allure. Finally, earthy, leathery Mourvèdre rounds out the blend, introducing subtle complexity and an inviting hint of vanilla bean and chocolate. These carefully chosen grapes harmonize within the winery’s barrels, aging gracefully as time weaves its transformative spell.

With each sip, Nip Slip unfolds like a captivating story: a tale of sun-drenched vineyards, labour of love, and the essence of premium South African soil captured in a glass. The rich, ruby-red liquid reveals the complexities of its unique grape varieties, with a hint of spice and a velvety-smooth finish that lingers like a fond memory.

The Vineyards of Stellenbosch

Nestled in the heart of South Africa’s wine country
The vineyards of Stellenbosch are renowned for their exceptional terroir and the cultivation of premium wines. The region’s fertile soil, rich in minerals, combined with an optimal climate featuring warm, sunny days and crisp, breezy nights, created the perfect conditions for ripening Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Mourvèdre: the cultivars that form Nip Slip. The unique microclimates within Stellenbosch, particularly in areas like Simonsberg and Polkadraai, contribute to the complexity and depth of the wines produced here and the distinct character of Nip Slip. These vineyards produce red wines with rich, robust flavours, balancing ripe fruit notes with elegant tannins and a subtle hint of spice, reflecting the true essence of Stellenbosch’s celebrated winemaking tradition.
